Safer Kids: K-Y2
The workshop supports school staff working with Kindergarten to Year 2 students and provides participants with the opportunity to:
unpack the Challenges and Choices teaching resources that link to the Western Australian Curriculum
explore the drug and road safety content appropriate for Kindergarten to Year 2 students such as caffeine (energy drinks), tobacco (passive smoking), crossing roads, wearing a restraint in the car and a helmet when riding a bike or scooter
observe teaching strategies that can be transferred easily into the classroom
commence planning a teaching program using activities from the Challenges and Choices resource.
The workshop is free, lunch is provided and certificates of participation will be issued on completion. SDERA will also cover the cost of teacher relief.
Participants should have an understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.
Eligibility to register
Anyone who works with students from Kindergarten to Year 2 will find the workshop useful.
Length of workshop
The workshop commences at 8:30am and concludes at 3:00pm.
