SDERA chairs and leads two state reference groups in the areas of road safety and drug education.
The Western Australian Road Safety Education Committee (WARSEC) was established in 2003 and meets four times a year with the aim of promoting evidence-based road safety education for early childhood services, schools and community-based services in Western Australia. A range of Government and non-Government organisations and service providers are represented on this reference group.
SDERA is a member of WARSEC, a multi-agency committee which is convened by SDERA, with the aim of advancing safe road use and road safety education for young people in Western Australia.
SDERA contributes to Directions, a biennial Road Safety Education Plan produced by WARSEC to document initiatives of each of the member agencies, individually and collaboratively, making contributions and real improvements to the Western Australian Towards Zero Road Safety Strategy 2008-2020.
The Western Australian School Drug Education Reference Group (WASDERG) was established in 2016 and meets 4 times a year with the aim of promoting evidence-based alcohol and other drug education practices in schools and across the community.
SDERA is currently chairing an Australasian road safety reference group - the Road Safety Education Reference Group Australasia (RSERGA) – with representation from all Australian states and territories and New Zealand.
