Safer Kids: K-Y2

The workshop supports school staff working with Kindergarten to Year 2 students and provides participants with the opportunity to:

  • unpack the Challenges and Choices teaching resources that link to the Western Australian Curriculum

  • explore the drug and road safety content appropriate for Kindergarten to Year 2 students such as caffeine (energy drinks), tobacco (passive smoking), crossing roads, wearing a restraint in the car and a helmet when riding a bike or scooter

  • observe teaching strategies that can be transferred easily into the classroom 

  • commence planning a teaching program using activities from the Challenges and Choices resource.

The workshop is free and certificates of participation will be issued on completion and support for teacher relief is available.

Participation expectations

Participants should have an understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.

Eligibility to register

Anyone who works with students from Kindergarten to Year 2 will find the workshop useful.

Registration

Places in SDERA workshops are limited and we ask that you make a commitment to attend once you have registered.  If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so that we are able to offer your place to another applicant.
