Safer Kids K-Y6: Road safety education

This NEW workshop is run in partnership with Constable Care at the Safety School.

The workshop supports school staff working with Kindergarten to Year 6 students and provides participants with the opportunity to:

  • enhance awareness of road safety issues for children
  • unpack road safety education resources that link to the WA Health and Physical Education Curriculum, WA Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework
  • explore an effective whole school approach to road safety education which the Constable Care Safety School excursion can enhance
  • take a tour of the Safety School to experience the unique augmented reality safety scenario app and learn how to organise an excursion from the booking process to your role when you are there.

The workshop is free, a light lunch is provided and certificates of participation will be issued on completion. SDERA will cover the cost of teacher relief.

Registration/lunch (VIP room)

12:15pm – 12:45pm (half hour)

Safety School Introduction (training room)

12:45pm – 1:45pm (1 hour)

SDERA training

1:45pm – 3.15pm (1.5 hours)

 

Participation expectations

Participants should have an understanding of the WA Health and Physical Education Curriculum.

 
Eligibility to register

Anyone who works with students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will find the workshop useful.

 

Length of workshop

The workshop commences at 12:15pm and concludes at 3:15pm.

Places in SDERA workshops are limited and we ask that you make a commitment to attend once you have registered.  If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so that we are able to offer your place to another applicant.
